Description

Acting without a script? That’s Improv! This class teaches improvisational skills as well as perfecting students’ abilities to think on their feet! Students will learn how to create a scene, character, and conflict in a matter of seconds as they master the rules of improvisational acting.
Prerequisite: Core Drama

Teacher:

Paul Baldwin

Paul has been active in theater ever since as a precocious young person, he was cast as "Child of the Well #1" in the Zama (Japan) Military Base Children's Theater 1972 production of "Stella and the Star Child." In the decades that followed, Paul has grasped such endeavors as playwriting, composition, developing a musical improvisation curriculum for aspiring young actors and the occasional teaching, directing, acting and good sense to avoid anything involving choreography. Here at CYT Spokane, Paul has shared his knowledge for the past decade with many talented young actors who, though they will never know the thrill of playing "CotW 1," nonetheless seem to have many other things going for them. As an Improv teacher, Paul is discovering how much smarter and more talented his pupils are than he is...and he wouldn't have it any other way!
