Class Description

CYT Online: Building a Musical!
This class is based on the idea of a jukebox musical, which is a musical written with the songs of another artist. Mama Mia is an example of such a musical. Using the music from the band Abba, Catherine Johnson wrote a musical that fit with the music that had already been written. It is my plan that in this class we can all work on our musical genius and come up with some musicals based on other bands! I will have some examples but students can also choose from their favorites. This class will also look at what makes a good musical story line and how to make sure our stories have a beginning, middle and end, with well thought out characters and conflicts that have satisfactory resolutions. This class is perfect for what is happening in the world right now because it gives students more time to research and do some fun "homework" assignments rather than just trying to get everything done in only two hours a week.
Prerequisite: One Core Completed - Dance 100 or Drama 100 or Voice 100

Jordan Hardy

Jordan is so excited to be getting more involved with CYT! She moved to Spokane when she was 12 and has always been interested in music and theater. Although she never was involved in CYT as a young person, many of her siblings were and she was privileged to play the piano in several CYT bands! Recently Jordan has been privileged to teach several CYT classes from Voice 100 to Wiggles, and be involved in the CYT Summer Camp. She was able to get in her love of the stage by participating in the recent CCT shows Music Man and Seussical! She is excited to continue to expand her CYT family by teaching and hopes to share her love of God and music with everyone.
