Christmas Quartets is CYT Spokane's annual, traditional tour group. Singing traditional carols and popular Christmas favorites in 4-part a capella harmony, this group is the next level for advanced singers. Group will travel around Spokane during the Christmas season in Dickens costumes, spreading the joy and cheer of the season through their beautiful melodies. Additional time will be required as the class will include approximately 8-10 performance opportunities in the community throughout the month of December and may also include extra rehearsal time if needed.
For Auditions, please come prepared to sing a one-minute Christmas song.
Parents, please note that there will be additional involvement on your part to help make this tour group a success. A parent meeting will be held on the first night of class to cover these details. There is also a $30 Production Fee required to cover additional costs of the class.
Prerequisite: Core Classes: Voice 100 * High School Students ONLY *
Jonikka began acting and played piano in the Sound of Music with her mom at the Warehouse Theater in Yakima. Jonikka loves music: playing the piano, singing in choirs, musicals at church, bands, orchestra, solo and ensemble and live productions. She currently lives in Nine Mile with her husband Grant and three sweet children Emily, Megan and Mark. Jonikka enjoys teaching kids and sharing the gift of music with others. Jonikka is especially grateful to be part of such a warm, wonderful community of kindred spirits who love God deeply, care for each other and work hard developing character, integrity and confidence.
Presley DuPuis is a proud CYT graduate who flipped over to the grown-up side and still hasn't looked back throughout his work as a teacher, music director, pit musician, HYPE adviser, and improv coach. He has gone from being the kid who would play the piano when he wasn't supposed to to the accompanist himself with his involvement in CYT dating back to 2008 with CYT North Idaho's first fully staged production: "Snow White." (I played the Magic Mirror.) Focusing on all aspects of music and theatre in his studies, Presley holds an A.S. in Music from North Idaho College and is currently finishing his degrees in both Collaborative Piano and Vocal Performance at Eastern Washington University. He has musically directed and played piano for many productions with local high schools, elementary choirs, community theatres, and his favorites: CYT North Idaho and CYT Spokane.
