Where Do We Start

Please read the following protocols carefully. They are in place for the health and wellness of our CYT Spokane family. Our conclusions and protocols have come through the resources provided by the CDC and State of Washington. These measures are designed to mitigate risks of spreading germs, however, there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of germs spreading in a live environment. It will take an effort from all students, staff, and families to be vigilant with their personal health so that we can avoid (to the best of our ability) inadvertently bringing any virus, COVID-19 or otherwise, into our CYT space.

Student & Staff Protocols

  • A short health questionnaire must be completed before entering the studio.
  • In the past 3 days, have you:
    • Had a fever or chills?
    • Had a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a sore throat, or had new loss of taste or smell?
    • Been in close physical contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
    • Been around anyone who has symptoms consistent with COVID-19?
  • If your student is not feeling well, or answers yes to any of the questions on the health questionnaire, please keep them home and notify the CYT Spokane Office they will not be attending class by sending an email to office@cytspokane.org.
  • Temperature checks will be completed on every student/staff member on site and will be recorded.
  • Masks are REQUIRED to be worn by ALL to enter the studio.
  • Social distancing will be enforced (as outlined by state guidelines).
  • Frequently scheduled hand sanitizing and sanitization after touching personal items.
  • Personal Items should be limited to:
    • Water bottle clearly labeled with your student’s name
    • Small personal hand sanitizer (if desired)
    • Notebook/pencil if the class requires
    • Dance shoes if required

  • Arrival - Students will check-in at a single point of entrance specific to their class. Studio doors will be clearly marked.
    • Studio H: Students will check-in/out through door that directly enters the Studio H (south end of building)
    • Studio C: Students will check-in/out through the CYT Administration door and proceed to Studio C (center of building)
  • Departure - At the end of the scheduled class time, students will remain in their classroom until picked up and check-out through same door they entered.

Mandatory Face Coverings

When at CYT Spokane, students and staff are required to wear a face mask at all times.
  • Your child should wear a triple layer mask that fits their face properly and is comfortable to wear.
  • If they show up without a mask, we will provide them with a disposable face mask.
  • We encourage families to check out the information provided by the CDC regarding Cloth Face Mask.

Studio Protocols

  • Thorough sanitization of our facilities before and after class each day.
  • Thorough sanitization of our facilities between classes, with high frequency touch point and bathroom cleaning happening throughout the class time.
  • There will be no waiting in the lobby.
  • There will be no Snack Shack offered.
  • There will be no use of the water fountain.
  • Bathroom usage will be limited to 2 students at a time.
  • Class sizes are limited to 5-12 students per classroom based on the classroom size and expected activities for the class.

We love our CYT Family! Thank you for joining us this spring. As we cautiously return to programming, the health of our students and staff is our top priority. Please know that these protocols are an effort to slow the spread of any illness, and we are hoping that our CYT family will join us in helping each other to feel comfortable and assured as we move forward. We are grateful for you!
Listen up! Hand washing is a big deal. Hopefully, you knew this before COVID-19. The CDC says to “wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.” Not sure how long 20 seconds is while standing at the bathroom sink? Never fear! Here are some of your favorite Broadway tunes to help you out.
“A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins
That…a…spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

“Tomorrow” from Annie
The sun’ll come out
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
There’ll be sun
Just thinkin’ about
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
’Til there’s none

“My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music
Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels

Doorbells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

“Do Re Mi” from The Sound of Music
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)
“Popular” from Wicked
You’re gonna be popular
I’ll teach you the proper ploys
When you talk to boys
Little ways to flirt and flounce
Oh! I’ll show you what shoes to wear
How to fix your hair
Everything that really counts to be
I’ll help you be popular

“My Shot” from Hamilton
I am not throwing away my shot
I am not throwing away my shot
Hey yo, I'm just like my country
I'm young, scrappy, and hungry
And I'm not throwing away my shot
I'mma get scholarship to King's College
I probably shouldn't brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish
The problem is I got a lot of brains, but no polish
I gotta holler just to be heard
With every word I drop knowledge

“You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen
Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
When you’re broken on the ground
You will be found
So let the sun come streaming in
’Cause you’ll reach up and you’ll rise again
If you only look around
You will be foooooound
You will be foooooound
