Description

This is the opportunity to show what you can do when it comes to singing big songs from Broadway shows! “Showstoppers” will showcase CYT students singing show-stopping numbers from a medley of songs from musicals such a “Wicked,” Hamilton,” “Les Miserables,” and others!

This is a class that will require that its students have taken all the core classes. This will be a mix of songs that will be tailored to the individual skills of each singer to display their talents. As the songs flow from one show to another in a continuous performance, you will be able to finally experience what it feels like to sing these powerhouse songs in front of a large audience! Come Defy Gravity as You Hear the People Sing!
The showcase for this class will be on Tuesday, June 4th.
Prerequisite: ALL CORE CLASSES REQUIRED: CORE DRAMA, CORE VOICE, CORE DANCE

Teacher:

Paul Baldwin

Paul has been active in theater ever since as a precocious young person, he was cast as "Child of the Well #1" in the Zama (Japan) Military Base Children's Theater 1972 production of "Stella and the Star Child." In the decades that followed, Paul has grasped such endeavors as playwriting, composition, developing a musical improvisation curriculum for aspiring young actors and the occasional teaching, directing, acting and good sense to avoid anything involving choreography. Here at CYT Spokane, Paul has shared his knowledge for the past decade with many talented young actors who, though they will never know the thrill of playing "CotW 1," nonetheless seem to have many other things going for them. As an Improv teacher, Paul is discovering how much smarter and more talented his pupils are than he is...and he wouldn't have it any other way!
