Step behind the spotlight and discover the exciting world of technical theater! This 10-week, hands-on course introduces students to the essential backstage roles that make every production possible. Through interactive projects, students will explore stage management, sound design, scenic painting, costumes, lighting, and production planning while learning the teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills used by professional theater crews.
As the course progresses, students will put their skills into practice during technical rehearsals, cue-to-cue, and dress rehearsals before culminating in a live showcase. Rather than performing on stage, students will wear traditional theater blacks and operate the production from backstage—calling cues, managing scene changes, and running the technical elements that bring the performance to life. This course is perfect for students who love theater, enjoy working behind the scenes, or want to discover a new way to be part of the magic.
